Architect: Chapman Taylor, Poland
Location: Wałbrzych, Poland
Galeria Victoria is located on a post–mining site of ca. 9.5 hectares and located to the south west of Wałbrzych city centre, Poland.
The two storey shopping centre development consists of a supermarket and approximately 120 shops. In the recreation zone there is a modern 7 screen multiplex, and a wide range of restaurants, snack bars and coffee shops. The shopping centre is supplemented by a retail park and a hotel with fitness facilities is built, along with a residential element.
Chapman Taylor’s Warsaw team had a challenge of designing the centre within some 10m level difference of the post-mining site, where a naturally ventilated underground parking was created, an amphitheatre, a plaza with a digitally operated fountain to be used for ice skating in the winter, as well as a pedestrian bridge from a bus stop leading directly into a spectacular food court. The upper mall in the centre of the scheme hosts an exceptional spiral structure made with a white PVC membrane.
This unique development was awarded the Best Shopping Centre Development in European Construction & Investment Journal’s Awards.
