Taalman & Koch Architecture is a collaborative andculturally focused architecture firm in Los Angeles, USA.The itHouse is a design system developed by these Californian architects that utilises a series of componentsprefabricated off-site in order to better control theconstruction waste, labour and quality of the finishedproduct. Conceived as a small house with glass walls andopen floor plan, the itHouse maximizes the relationshipof the occupant to the surrounding landscape whileminimizing the impact to delicate site conditions.Energy efficiency is achieved in the itHouse throughpassive heating and cooling, utilizing site orientation andcross ventilation, radiant floor heating, hi-efficacyappliances & equipment and the use of solar photovoltaic& thermal panels.Taalman & Koch are working in collaboration with a rangeof graphic artists to produce a series of PVC outfits thatoffer the consumer the ability to customize their space interms of aesthetics, privacy and solar control.Like a kit of parts, the iT house can be accessorised withdecor chosen specifically for individual living tastes.
